“Did I Inspire You” - Your Favorite Brand

Marketers use different types of appeals to get their point across and promote brands for various campaigns. Emotional appeal when it comes to those dog adoption commercials that make us all cry, fear appeal when it comes to smoking habits and the long-term effects, humor appeal when it comes to Chick-fil-A having cows carry signs that say "Eat More Chicken", sex appeal for Victoria Secret campaigns, nostalgia appeal for those classic Coca-Cola commercials, and more! But you know what's my favorite? Inspirational appeal.

Marketers who take the inspirational route for the campaigns have one purpose and one purpose only: to provoke emotion. They want to show heartwarming stories and awe-inspiring visuals to truly provoke those positive emotions to create a connection with the audience. Inspirational appeal is meant to uplift your spirit by tapping into those emotions you didn't plan on expressing before seeing the campaign for the specific brand.

Campaigns with an inspirational appeal can also include your favorite role models; actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, athletes like Serena Williams, entrepreneurs like Jeff Bezos, or singers like Selena Gomez. Inspirational appeal uses these role models to showcase the resilience that they have to reach their goals so that you can say, "If they can do it, so can I". They want you to be inspired and shoot for the stars. All that cheesy inspirational stuff we all love to see.

We all need a little push to go for our goals. Marketers know this and they know how to inspire you. Inspirational appeal is meant to be a call-to-action tactic. It is meant to urge you to take risks, make better habits, and go for what you want. It plants ambition, momentum, and drive to empower individuals to make a positive change, and that's why I love it!

I love the cheesy, inspirational stuff. I love the campaigns that make me think I can run a 5k marathon even though I lose my breath going up the stairs. I want to be inspired. Everyone does. It is astounding how inspirational appeal can easily influence an individual's perspective on ideas and goals because it presents the narrative that success is possible and attainable for everyone, including you and me.

Inspirational appeal is an appeal that provokes emotions. A brand can use this appeal to inspire its audience to envision a greater life for themselves and strive for greatness. By showcasing these heartfelt visuals, model figures, and strong calls to action, marketers can harness the power of emotional appeal to lift spirits and ignite passion in their audience when promoting a brand.
